Loved ones will be memorialized at a special ceremony  in the Chapel

It is with great sorrow that the Chesapeake Celtic Festival has learned of the tragic death of Bill O’Brien, Royal Clan O’Brien, who was a victim of road rage violence. We send our loving condolences to his beloved wife, Robin E. Remsburg, children Kelly and Kevin O’Brien, sisters Katherine Bowen and Maureen O’Brien, and brothers James and Patrick O’Brien.

Snow Hill High School Junior ROTC

  The flags of the Seven Celtic Nations are carried in the Opening Ceremony by members of the Snow Hill High School Marine Corps Junior ROTC under the direction of MSgt. (Master Sergeant) Bill Meekins.

The Seven Celtic Nations are those countries where the Celtic heritage has been in unbroken existence for more than two thousand years.  These nations are Asturias and Galicia, the Celtic provinces of Spain, Brittany, Cornwall, Ireland, Isle of Man, Scotland, and Wales. At the top of the furnace ramp, the Celtic flags flank an American flag from the period of the mid 19th Century when Furnace Town was at its peak. Many of the Furnace Town workers came  from these Celtic lands.

Society for Creative Anachronism

Enter the encampment of the SCA and experience arts, crafts, fighting in armor, music, language, and even a joke or two. The local group, the Shire of Spiaggia Levantina, has participated in the Chesapeake Celtic Festival since it's inception.

Swords of Chivalry

This society is dedicated to preserving history for the future. They describe themselves as a group of medieval re-enactors that are fun, friendly,and family orientated.
Some families of three generations take part.

The Wild Geese

1200 to 1601 Re-enactment
The men portray the Galloglaigh and Gaelic Buannadah warriors and their ladies demonstrate domestic skills. All materials and topics are researched and historically accurate.


The Medieval European Martial Arts Guild
